How many charges will my battery last?

All ebikes by Rad Power Bikes come with a high-quality lithium-ion battery that has the same charge rating of 800 full charge cycles before replacement may be needed.

A full charge cycle is from completely empty to completely full, and discharging the battery halfway and recharging back to full is only half a charge cycle. You can discharge the battery 50% and charge it back up to 100% twice to equal one complete charge cycle. If you only discharge the battery halfway before recharging normally, your battery will last for twice as many trips!

The lifetime of a battery will vary depending on several factors including how frequently an owner discharges and recharges the battery: a very heavy user who drains a full battery and recharges it back to full every day, seven days a week, will see about 2.5 years of life from their battery. A casual user's battery can last closer to 6-7 years. Overall, we typically see the average battery lifetime at about 5 years.

Using the battery in extreme temperatures and conditions, as well as how the battery is charged and stored can also have an impact on the overall lifespan of the battery. For more information on long-term battery storage, check out the article linked HERE.
